I've driven over the bridge about a million times since I was really little and never thought twice about it, but Brady thought it would be neat to check it out. From underneath it is really creepy in a "that's too big to exist" kind of way. While my hubby ran around trying to snap photos of this monster of a bridge I was more obsessed with something a little more natural..... a tree. What is so great about a tree? Well when I first saw it I said to him "I have to climb that tree!" He kind of ignored me and went about his business but I was serious. I had to climb it. I didn't care how high I got or how hard it would be but I wanted to climb its one great big limb! I tried to hold it and pull myself up like I did when I was little and quickly realized I have the arm strength of a 10 year old girl but not the body to go with it. After a few struggles I tried to occupy myself with the photos Brady was taking even posing for a few.
In the back of my mind all I could think about was how much better this would all be if I were in that stupid tree. So that was it I went back to the tree and crawled up through the middle of it. The branch was right there! I was so close but it was on the opposite side of the tree. So with a "dear God don't let me bust my ass" sigh I mustered up the courage and swung myself across.
I did it! I safely landed on the big arm of the tree. I was like a little kid yelling for Brady to come take a picture so I could show everyone that I climbed a tree. I talked about it the whole ride home and when my mom finally came home from work I practically sang it to her that I sat in a tree. She didn't seem too amazed considering as a child all we did was climb trees and terrorize the woods behind my house but this was something I hadn't done in maybe 10 years. Needless to say it was an awesome day!
A few days later Brady was in the mood to go out adventuring again and this time I took him to the Black Moshannon State Park. It was one of my favorite places to go as a kid because it was where EVERYONE had their birthday parties! Growing up we would go to "the beach" there, which is a sandy bank along the river and swim in the freezing dark black water. It was the best! Unfortunately because it is only the beginning of May and not warm out by any means the beach wasn't open but the bog walk was. So we walked along the water and watched all the bumble bees going crazy over some little flowers growing out of the swamp.
I'll post more photos of the trip but check out the link to their websites. Its a totally amazing place in Pennsylvania!
