Snow Storms and Cornbread

Oh I have so many lovely photos to share today! Let us begin with the view from the kitchen window this morning:
Well I don't know who did it, but someone forgot Mother Nature's special day yesterday so she was taking it out on all of us like a mom who got a vacuum for mother's day. It was so disheartening that even little Hannah was feeling the wrath of disgruntled storm system.
Look at that face. Needless to say she wasn't feeling like tinkling in a winter wonderland, but really who would. Though it closed schools, knocked the power out a few times and made Miss Hannah a cranky dog I wasn't going to let it get me down. When the world hands you a late April slush fest you MAKE CORNBREAD BISCOTTI!! That's right crunchy, sweet, spicy, cheesy cornbread biscotti.
Brady is currently employed as a cook at a locally owned bar and restaurant and they're talking about changing the menu. He's trying to talk them into adding some lovely baked goodies from his very talented baker of a wife to the menu.  What's classier than a bowl of chili with a fabulous piece of my biscotti next to it? He's taking them in tomorrow so fingers crossed. I've been dieting and skipping out on such things as flower, sugar and full fat dairy products so I only had a little taste of the finished product, but most of my reviews were quite positive!

Well I mean my mom said it was good. Speaking of my sweet Mama, that lovely lady brought me 5 cartons of eggs home from a gent she works with. His kids are in 4-H and raise chickens so he brings in the excess eggs for whoever needs them and boy do we need them.  I have been resident chef for the family since I've moved in. We've all been trying to lose some extra lbs before my sisters wedding this coming summer so I've been making healthy meal choices for all of us. Mornings usually consist of some yummy healthy farm fresh eggs. If your questioning why I get so excited about eggs, just take a look at them! That blue one is the most adorable things I will ever have the pleasure of eating.
After all of my egg excitement Brady and I took a trip to town to visit the state store and the local goodwill. Maybe this will give you a little perspective on how far "out there" we really live. We must drive at least 20 minutes to the closest town for groceries or in this case $10 wine, but it's kind of nice. Anyway I just wanted to share a little glimpse of my awesome finds at the thrift store tonight!
Isn't that a beautiful spread? I'll give you a little more tomorrow!

Howdy Partners!

Hello world! I'm Emmy and this here is my new blog and this is my story:

That's me. ( I know, its a pretty smoldery photo but I really do smile quite a bit. Just thought I would put my sexiest foot forward first, if you know what I mean.) Just this past fall I had just married my best friend, I was starting a new job with one of my favorite companies, my hubby and I were taking some steps to buy our first home in the city and heck we were even talking about maybe a lil rugrat this summer! Everything was a honeymoon and then came the hiccups. A few little things fell out from under us and our little daydream was over. We had nothing.

We wont dwell on our misfortunes cause lets be honest, it can always be worst! This blog isn't going to be a pitty party or contestant rants about how bad my life is because its not, its disheveled but its good. This blog will be all about my new start and what I'm doing to get the crazy train back on track.

Anyhoo, back to the story. With out a beat after everything came undone my fabulous family offered to take in  my husband Brady (that hunky beast with the shades on) and I and our furry four legged babies. So 4 hours and a huge budget truck later we went from 2 honeymooners living in a 4 bedroom house in western New York  with our 2 cats and bagel hound pup to a  5 bedroom home in central (middle of the woods) Pennsylvania with my pa, my mom, my younger sister and brother, their two dogs and 2 cats. In case your're bad at math or I just lost you in my rambling that's 6 full grown adult humans, 3 crazy dogs and 4 kitty cats. Its kind of like full house meets Christmas vacation and  Brady and I are kinda like cousin Eddy. With all the laundry, fur and Pennsylvania spring water things are going surprisingly well, but this is just the beginning!
Just to keep you coming back for more I thought I would pull out the big guns and give you a glimpse of my sweet bagel hound (half basset hound + half beagle = the cutest face on earth) Hannah Rose Twinkle Toes. We usually just call her Hannah!
